Sabar is a restaurant serving toro saba located in Japan Food Town in Wisma Atria. For those that really love saba sushi this is the place to go. I decided to order the assorted sashimi lunch ($25 SGD).
There were four varieties of toro saba served. Labeling tags were on each type of fish but I took them off to get a clear photo. The varieties consisted of different types of toro and cooking styles. My favorite was the lightly torched (aburi) saba. The toro fats were expressed clearly when torched and it went very well with the rice that came with the sashimi.
I was also very curious to see how the saba-sushi tasted so I decided to sign up for the restaurants online site to get one free.
The saba on the sushi was cooked well and the rice was packed tightly. I personally like raw saba sushi, but that is just a personal preference. Nonetheless, this saba sushi tasted great and reminded me of my days in Kyoto.
Visit this restaurant during lunch or dinner for a full serving of delicious saba.
